The Los Gatos silver-zinc-lead Mine is located in Chihuahua, Mexico. Dowa’s joint venture partner, Gatos Silver Inc., is headquartered in Greenwood Village, Colorado in the United States, and has operated the JV company with Dowa since 2014. Dowa has a 30% ownership of the mine.

The mine completed a feasibility study in January 2017 that confirmed the presence of 9.8 million tonnes of mineral reserves (grading 247g/t-Ag, 4.8%-Zn, 2.3%-Pb). After the feasibility study was completed, the 1,400m exploration decline was constructed and a bulk sampling campaign was conducted for the pilot plant processing test program. In October 2017, all required environmental permits were obtained and the development stage began. The production stage began in July 2019.

The current production capacity is 3,000 tonnes per day. Large amounts of the zinc concentrate yielding from the Los Gatos Mine is shipped to Akita Zinc, Dowa’s zinc smelter located in Akita, Japan.
