The Los Gatos silver-zinc-lead Mine is located in Chihuahua, Mexico. Dowa’s joint venture partner, First Majestic Silver Corp., is headquartered in Canada, acquired Gatos Silver, Inc. in January 2025, and has operated the JV company with Dowa since 2014. Dowa has a 30% ownership of the mine.

 

The feasibility study was completed in January 2017 that confirmed the presence of 9.8 million tonnes of mineral reserves (grading 247g/t-Ag, 4.8%-Zn, 2.3%-Pb). At the feasibility study, the 1,400m exploration decline was constructed and a bulk sampling campaign was conducted for the pilot plant processing test program. In October 2017, all required environmental permits were obtained for the mine development. In July 2019, the mine production was started.

 

The current production capacity is 3,500 tonnes per day. The zinc concentrate is shipped to Akita Zinc, Dowa’s zinc smelter located in Akita, Japan.
